Communications Center (Dispatch)The Radio Communications Center (Dispatch) of the Bedford Police Department is an integral part of the department. The Communications Center is required to be staffed 24/7. It is the central point where inter-departmental calls are screened and transferred as well as answering calls and dispatching police, fire, ambulance, and wrecker personnel, notifying additional personnel and citizens, when necessary, also taking calls for other governmental agencies after hours, weekends, and holidays including, but not limited to, sewer, water, and animal control. All telecommunication officers are familiar with the municipal area and a general knowledge of city ordinances, state and federal law, and handling reports from the general public. .
