Police Officer Requirements

You must be a U.S. citizen.

You must be between the ages of 21 and 36 years old at time of appointment as a police officer.

You must have 20/50 vision, or vision that can be corrected to 20/50.

You must possess a valid driver’s license with no restrictions.

You must have a high school diploma or GED.

You must be able to pass the Physical Ability Test (PAT).

You must be able to pass a written examination.

You must participate in an oral interview to demonstrate your ability to speak and interact with others.

You must undergo an in-depth background investigation to reveal any convictions or other past behavior that may affect your employment eligibility.

You must agree to take a polygraph test to demonstrate good faith.

You must pass a medical and psychological evaluation.
